Implications on Palestine as a Non-member observer status in the UN general assembly

There has been many enquiries as to what are the implications of the UN majority vote that accord Palestine as a Non-member observer status in the UN general assembly.

It is a must to comprehend the '2 state solution' as the background to this issue. I will try to deliberate on this latest development in a series of postings. here we go...

2 state solution: (defn).

Israel (illegitimate) and palestine exist as 2 soverign states based on the 1967 borders. Palestine constitute of gaza, the west bank (less than 22% of the original palestine and east jerusalem (Baitul Maqdis timur) based on the '67 borders should be returned back to the palestinians-but no way Israel will give up east jerusalem because jerusalem (east & west jerusalem) has been proclaimed as the united and eternal capital of israel.

So the 2 state solution will remain elusive because it only works on paper but will never become a reality as Israel will never give up Baitul maqdis (where aqsa mosque is located) nor will Israel negotiate on the occupied territories of the west bank (biblical judea and samaria). in the west bank they have more than 200 jewish settlements built on palestinian land, settling more than 400k illegal jewish immigrants. they have surrounded these settlements with the notorious separation wall which cut a large swath of land further reducing the palestinian territory in the west bank by more than 40%. in the words of Menachem Begin (the butcher of Deir Yassin), Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) is an integral part of Israel. [2 state solution is therefore wishful thinking].

What is the stand of HAMAS on the 2 state solution?.

HAMAS demands that Israel withdraw back to the '67 borders completely, dismantling all settlements in the west bank (and end the siege on Gaza). Baitul Maqdis will be the undisputed capital of palestine. what would happen after the israeli withdrawal to the '67 borders. A long term cease fire (hudna) will be concluded with israel without both entities having to recognise each other. (this model works for south and north korea since 1953). the cease fire can last for a period agreed by both parties (say 10 yrs and is renewable indefinitely). so a '2 state solution' for HAMAS is a temporary measure whereas the 2 state soln envisioned by the UN is 2 sovereign states existing side and side and having normal diplomatic relations. As far as HAMAS is concerned the '2 state solution' is not the final status. the final status is when every inch of Palestine (including the occupied palestine of 1948- 78% of the whole of Palestine) is returned back to her rightful owner. refer to khaled mish'al speech on the 8th dec in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of HAMAS [FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA; PALESTINE WILL BE FREE!]. What is the position of FATAH on the 2-state solution. FATAH embraced fully the 2 state solution and infact have recognised israel in 1993 in the Oslo Accord.. So the difference between FATAH and HAMAS lies in the core issue and almost irreconcilable.

On UN recognition of Palestine as observer non-member entity - What is HAMAS position on the fate of Israel/the zionist.

The hudna (cease fire) can last for however long it may take. Let event take it's course or the cease f
ire agreement is over taken by events. What I mean by that is Israel will die her natural death. Events of the last aggression (14-21 Nov 2012) clearly showed that Israel is nearing her end. The cease fire between Israel and hamas concluded on the 21st is the first such ceasefire whereby the latter set the term and on the latter's term. amazing!! Israel agreed to accept the ceasefire on terms that is not favourable to her (stop the attack; US to give assurance that Israel will not launch another attack; and to uplift the siege and to end the blockade). The ceasefire is more or less intact despite of a number of border incidence. Israel suffered major casualties this time around; Ehud Barak quits as the minister of defense and left politics completely; yesterday Avigdor Lieberman - foreign minister quits! This has been forseen by the CIA-that Israel is no longer sustainable and 'A world without Israel' is fast becoming a reality. In the end Israel will collapse in the hands of her people. That one qassam rocket that hits Tel Aviv is enough to strike fear on the zionist that israel was compelled to accept a cease fire. and in case israel is toying with the idea of violating the cease fire they must bear the consequence because this time around it was President Morsi that brokered the ceasefire - Egypt of today is not Egypt of yesterday (qouting Morsi).

On the UN recognition of Palestinian statehood with observer status - no big deal.

PLO has a permanent observer seat in the UN since 1974. It was just a matter of upgrading from PLO to Palestine with status unchanged - OBSERV
ER! Now which Palestine UN recognizes? It is the Palestine as defined by The 2 state solution (22% of historic Palestine). °Why did HAMAS agreed on this when it went against the very Charter of HAMAS? again HAMAS welcome this move by UN as a positive development, but as far as we are concerned it is not the final status - it is still a temporary measure. while Mahmud Abbas is willing to give up his hometown and birth place in the West Bank,

Khaled Mish'al is longing to return and he 'Shall return' because "FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA PALESTINE WILL BE FREE". Bi iznillah.
